Project Overview
Your PDF portfolio should be a concise and meaningful collection of work you’ve created over the course of this semester. Less is more; use simple, readable typefaces and let your work be the hero. Make sure to use large, vibrant, excellent quality photos of your work to showcase your design sensibility and craftsmanship. Design Considerations
- Use a well designed typeface that doesn’t distract from your work. In general, fonts are not a good way to differentiate yourself in a portfolio. Your work is. Your type should be legible when important and fade into the background when it’s not essential.
- Use a grid system to align and organize your photos, titles, and descriptions.
- The simpler the design, the more important the details. Pay attention to alignment, spacing, kerning, consistency, etc.
- Consider how to pace your portfolio; don’t cram too many images on one page, but conversely, don’t stretch a project across too many pages.
- Embrace white space. Leave space for things to breathe.
- Keep your descriptions meaningful, relevant, and concise.
- Do honest self–editing. If you think something can be better, fix it.
